The puppy with the Green Collar (puppy name is Clint) is the remaining puppy available from this litter. He is a very sweet natured puppy! He is alert and smart and picking up on his lessons quickly. This week the pups that are here with us will begin the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program training during our 4-H classes. The S.T.A.R classes are an exciting new AKC program designed to get puppies off to a good start. Classes teach how to best communicate with your puppy, provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. teach practical skills such as coming when called. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program.

I hope that everyone has had a great Christmas and New Years Holiday. We have been very busy around here with 9 kids and getting several puppies off to their new homes so we have gotten behind in getting new pictures up and the site updated.

The puppies are going in for their first vet visit and first shots this week. The pups have started to spend time outside and they are doing some very basic training. We are watching each puppy very closely as well as doing temperament testing this week and should be ready very soon with matches on which puppy will be going to which new home.

The puppies are so much fun to watch as they play and romp each other. We are learning a lot about their temperaments and will be doing official testing soon.

The pups have started to interact more with each other and it is great fun watching them play!
They all have those sharp baby teeth and have started on week 4 to eat solidish food.

The pups have changed so much in just a few short weeks! They are very interested in eating and they have all been putting on weight. They were born in the 1 pound range and now are 2-1/2 - 3 pounds and look like very cute little sausages! Towards the end of the week they all opened their eyes and started to stand and walk around a bit on wobble legs.

The pups are all thriving and doing very well this week. At this point they spend most of their days eating and sleeping with mom keeping a close eye on the pups.

JUST 1 GIRL AND 1 BOY STILL AVAILABLE!

Libby's labored all Tuesday evening and into the night. At 4 am Wednesday she told me it was time. Since she went a few days early I had to quickly gather up the last of our birthing supplies and by 5 am she had her first pup. She continued to labor all day and had her last pup around 6 am. Then it was time for a good nights sleep for both of us. This morning she is looking great! She even demanded to go on the morning walk but after about 15 minutes she wanted to get back to her babies but this gave the kids and I time to weigh all the puppies and clean up the whelping box for her. The puppies have all either stayed at their birth weight or grown a bit and they are all nursing well.

Libby's is looking VERY heavy with puppies but she is still full of energy and eager to go for her daily walks in the hills. We have been getting prepared for whelping including setting up Libby's whelping box and gathering all the needed supplies for the expected long night ahead of us. With only about a week to go we are all getting excited about seeing the new puppies and doing our part to assist Libby. Of course we will let everyone now as soon as possible that the puppies have arrived safe and sound.

Libby is looking great and our vet was able to confirm on Wednesday, October 01, 2008 that she is indeed pregnant in fact, the vet felt several puppies during her exam.
