Libby Red Fox Lab

"Helm's Signature Point Doctor"

The son of Helm's Point Doctor, PT who attracted attention from across the nation, especially after his photo appeared in the
April 2004 edition of Outdoor Life Magazine

A great looking dog smart, broad chested, good noise, very pretty dark fox red color. He has been throwing GREAT looking puppies! He was faster and easier to train then his dad and in fact, he may be an overall better specimen than his sire just not as famous...YET!

Point Doctor "Buck" weighs 65 pounds and is 23 inches at the withers meeting breed standards.

Helm's Signature Point Doctor's Pedigree

"Kelly's Libby"

She is a splendid example of a Pointing Lab with endless drive and enthusiasm.

Libby comes from the legendary Kellogg lines and Master Hunter Rik's Risky Raider.

When she is not enjoying her work in the Black Hills behind our home she is our loyal and loving companion to both young and old!

Libby weighs 73 pounds and is 23 inches at the withers meeting breed standards.

Libby's Pedigree

- INNISHFREE LABRADOR BREEDING GOALS -

Helm's Signature Point Doctor and Kelly's Libby are both built to be strong smooth runners. Point Doctor Jr., like his sire, is known for his smooth gait and his ability to trot faster then most hunting labs can gallop. Both Helm's Signature Point Doctor and Kelly's Libby have been bred to produce long legs for increased endurance and ability to get through thick cover in the field. Both dogs are above average intelligence and have that sweet loving disposition that continues to make Labradors the most popular dog breed around. Both are natural pointers that also have the RARE "Fox Red" yellow color variation that is very unique and distinctive for those that want something unique and special in their next dog. Strong hunting drive, smooth gait, endurance in the field, sweet loving disposition, and a natural point are the goals Innishfree Puppies has for this litter and all of our labrador pups.

From what we are hearing back from our puppy owners we are certainly hitting the mark!

JUST 1 PUPPY REMAINING!

10 Weeks Old

The kids and I took Ruby (and 2 other pups) to the 4-H dog class last Wednesday and she had a great time playing with the other puppies/dogs. She was learning how to walk on a leash, sitting on command and hands on relaxation. She seemed to take everything in stride including some work going through the chute in the agility class. She was also out with Diana this week as we did some retrieve training and she was very eager to join in the fun!

JUST 2 PUPS REMAINING!

Most of the puppies have gone home and its starting to get pretty quiet around here. The remaining puppies are now around 16 pounds and we are starting more serious school time with them i.e. leash training and basic commands. The pups had their first experience with live birds this past week and everyone thought that this was just the BEST fun around!

Maroon Puppy

This is the puppy with the Maroon collar whose puppy name is Ruby. She was the third puppy born in the litter and one of the bigger pups. She is a very sweet and loving girl (I have gotten lots of nice puppies kisses from her). She is a confident pup that knows her mind. What does this mean? On her first night in the dog crate she was very vocal about her displeasure but now she is fine about being in the crate at night. She is a very pretty pup who has one of the darker shades of red with black nose and blocky head. She has a small narrow strip of white on her chest but this should be pretty much unnoticeable when she is grown. She is smart, trainable, confident pup with the kind of temperament that makes the perfect pet.

Light Blue Puppy

Lt. Blue - PeanutThis is the puppy with the Light Blue collar whose puppy name is Peanut. She was the fourth puppy born in the litter and is now one of the bigger pups. She is a very sweet and loving girl (I have gotten lots of nice puppies kisses from her). She likes to play so she should do very well in a family with kids. And, she is good with people in general and did very well with the residents at the nursing home we visit. She should do very well at training as she has learned very quickly during puppy lessons. In fact when she goes to obedience class she will probably make you the star of the show. She is a very pretty darker shade of red with black nose and blocky head. She has a few white hairs on her chest but this should be pretty much unnoticeable when she is grown. She is smart, trainable, confident pup with the kind of temperament that makes the perfect pet.

GET THEM BEFORE THEY ARE GONE!

Just 2 girls left.

It has been my pleasure to speak with so many wonderful families who are searching for their next dog. I have enjoyed hearing about your families and stories of your current and past 4 legged family members. Please know that all of the Kelly's take our responsibilities in helping match just the right pup for you very seriously and we appreciate the trust you have placed in our ability to do this for you. If you have been sitting on the fence waiting and watching it is now time to act before it is to late and these last 2 girls are gone.

VET VISIT & PUPPY MATCHES

This week the pups took there first trip to the vet for shots, microchipping and general health check. Everyone passed with flying colors and the vet even commented to me about how Libby always has puppies with such good temperaments.

IMPORTANT: Emails were sent out to those families who have deposits placed letting them know specifics about their puppy along with pictures of their new baby. If you did not get your email please let me know so I can send it out to you again.

TO THE LAKE = SCHOOL TIME FOR THE GIRLS

School begins for these pups by first watching mom and in just a few minutes the girls are all ready to join in for their first swimming lesson (even had 2 of the pups do a jumping dive off the bank). We have started shooting around the pups this week with no signs of gun shyness. We will be taking everyone in for their first shots and visit to the vet later this week.

* Double click on the box to start the movie clip if the controls are not seen.

We will be continuing to observe the pups and do temperament testing during the next week or so and will have most of the pups matched up by the end of the week.

Pictures taken May 25 - May 31, 2008

* Sorry for the delay in getting the site updated as I hurt my right hand in a fall and it has taken a few days to get the use of my fingers back so that I can type again.

READY TO EXPLORE!

The puppies have all been taking turns escaping the whelping box, especially during the night, so the real FUN now begins as they spend more and more time out and about exploring the big new world and all the enticing smells it has to offer.

Exploring the yard and eating my shoes is tiresome work as you can see.

The pups weigh in now at between 7.5 - 9 pounds.

SOLID FOOD

All of the puppies have been eager to start on solid food this week and even Libby has been a little envious because she likes the puppy food too. But, not to worry she gets to lick the bowls clean after the pups have had their fill.

What a difference a couple of weeks makes. Their eyes and ears are open and Libby says that they all have very sharp puppy teeth so, she has started them on solid food. The pups are growing fast with all of them about 6 pounds now.

They are such fun bundles of sweet joy and healthy energy!

It's tiresome work being a puppy!

As you can see each of these 7 girls are similar shades of the pretty fox red lab color and, as they grow their colors will continue to get darker and richer.

MOTHER'S LOVE!

The pups have all gone from around 1 pound at birth to around 3 pounds during their first two weeks of life. The pads of their feet and their noses are getting darker each day and they will be opening up their eyes and taking in the world soon.

Announcing the birth of Libby's 2008 spring litter Saturday April 12th.

There are 7 Girls & 0 Boys in this litter.

Libby is such a good and attentive mother. She has spent the first two days almost exclusively in the whelping box feeding and caring for her pups and it shows because all the girls are putting on weight quickly and look great.

Picture taken April 12 - 14, 2008

Just a few more days until Libby has her pups and we can hardly wait!

This week we have begun preparing the whelping box and gathering all the necessary supplies for the "BIG EVENT" and, as you can see, Libby is looking pretty big indeed!

Picture taken March 30, 2008 posted April 9, 2008

"She sure has a mess of puppies in there!"

Today Libby's pregnancy was confirmed by Dr. Terri our trusted vet.

March 11, 2008

There are several families with deposits on this litter already so, if you are interested in a pup from this litter you need to get in touch with the Kelly's soon to secure your puppy.
