The grandson of Helm's Point Doctor, PT who attracted attention from across the nation, especially after his photo appeared in the
April 2004 edition of Outdoor Life Magazine
Gunner is a superb looking dog! He is smart, broad chested & muscular, good noise, very pretty dark fox red color with an easy going temperament. Gunner is a fine example of the breed, color, and temperament that we are looking to pass along in his line. He has already thrown some GREAT puppies!

"Yoni"
Yoni is a solid and strong labrador with a nice big blocky head. She has the high tail that tells all in the field and gives her that regal appearance at home. Yoni is an intelligent dog who is eager to work. She is a sweet natured dog who has been a playful and friendly companion in the field and in the home.

Gunner and Yonika are both owned by Chaplain (Colonel) David Peterson, Ret. who lives on his farm in Sturgis, South Dakota. The folks at Innishfree had the opportunity to meet Dave when we visited about using Gunner for stud services for our girls Diana and Windy. Dave is a very nice man who served his country with honor and distinction. Since his retirement in 1995 Dave
has been developing game rich hunting land near Lemmon South Dakota. After many successful hunting trips folks stated asking for pups from Yanika and after searching a suitable sire was found in Gunner. After seeing his dogs we were equally impressed with these high quality hunting dogs. It has now become our sincere honor to have the opportunity to assist Dave in placing this litter of pups for our good friend Dave.
Gunner and Yonika have been bred to produce pups with that natural desire and ability to hunt. They have also been paired to produce pups with that friendly labrador disposition that results in terrific pets. As a bonus Gunner and Yonika should have pups with that rare red fox coat color that stops folks in their tracks so they can tell you how gorgeous your dog looks! Strong hunting drive, smooth gait, endurance in the field, intelligent and loyal companion and family pet are the goals we are expecting to meet with this special breeding.

Unfortunately, the folks at Innishfree will not get to be involved in the direct day to day care of this litter. We will visit as often as possible since we just can't resist holding, hugging and helping as much as mom will allow. In the mean time we will be in close contact with Yonika's owners and sharing with them in great detail what you are looking for to ensure the best match for each puppy and new owner. We will be sharing photos and information with you by phone, email and this website. We will be your contact person for all information and questions that come up for these special pups.

So much excitement as the pups learn, grow and are busy exploring their world!
From 3-4 weeks your puppy begins the most critical social development period of his life – he learns social interaction with his littermates, learns how to play and learns bite inhibition. He’ll also learn discipline at this point – Mom will begin weaning the pups around this time, and will start teaching them basic manners, including accepting her as the leader of the pack. Puppy mush has been introduced to the pups this week and the transition to solid food will continue as Mom gradually weans them.

Such a FUN & exciting time as your pup learns, grows and is busy exploring their world!
This is the almost ready to meet the world stage for your puppy. From 3 to about 4 weeks your puppy will undergo rapid sensory development. Puppy teeth will begin to erupt and his sense of smell develps. Fully alert to his environment your pup will begin to stand up and walk around as he starts to play with his littermates.

2 week old Yonika Puppies
Much more then just a pretty Labrador Retriever puppy!
During this week your puppies eyes and ears will open and he’ll slowly start to respond to light and movement and sounds around him. He’ll become a little more mobile during this period, trying to get his feet underneath him and crawling around in the whelping box. Considered the Transitional or "toddler" stage from 2 - 3 weeks of development as the puppy becomes more alert and learns to crawl, stand, and ultimately walk.

Much more then just a pretty Labrador Retriever puppy!
Labrador Retrievers have been at the top of the AKC list of favorite dog breeds for a long time and with this popularity many lab breeders have bred just for the friendly temperament or just for the color. These are often the pups you see for sale for $50 - $500 bucks in your local paper. You will often recognize these, all be it sweet, labs when you look into their eyes and realize that there just is not much going on upstairs. And, you really see it when you start trying to train these pups and they just don't seem to get it! The true nature and purpose of a Labrador Retriever is a dog that is an all-around family companion, great with children, friendly to people and other dogs, an easy-keeper for an active family, a loyal friend and an eager hunter in the field. As a responsible breeder our goal is to not just produce some of the best looking fox red lab pups on the market but to do our best to improve the breed by bringing out the best of the best in all of the desirable lab traits while still maintaining health and soundness.
