Helm's Signature Point Doctor "Buck"
RED LAB KING
The son of Helm's Point Doctor, PT who attracted attention from across the nation, especially after his photo appeared in the
April 2004 edition of Outdoor Life Magazine
A great looking dog smart, broad chested, good noise, very pretty dark fox red color. He has been throwing GREAT looking puppies! He was faster and easier to train then his dad and in fact, he may be an overall better specimen than his sire just not as famous...YET!
Point Doctor "Buck" weighs 65 pounds and is 23 inches at the withers meeting breed standards.

She is a splendid example of a Pointing Lab with endless drive and enthusiasm and a very pretty dark fox red color. All this along with that wonderful labrador sweet natured temperament.

- INNISHFREE LABRADOR BREEDING GOALS -
Helm's Signature Point Doctor "Buck" and Deep River Foxy Lady Di "Foxy" are both built to be strong smooth runners. Both of these dogs, like their famous sire Helm's Point Doctor "Doc" were bred to produce long legs for increased endurance and ability to get through thick cover in the field. Both dogs are above average intelligence and have that sweet loving disposition that continues to make Labradors the most popular dog breed around. Both are natural pointers that also have the RARE "Fox Red" yellow color variation that is very unique and distinctive for those that want something extra special in their next dog. Strong hunting drive, smooth gait, endurance in the field, sweet loving disposition, and a natural point are the goals Innishfree Puppies has for this litter and all of our labrador pups.
From what we are hearing back from our puppy owners we are certainly hitting the mark!

5 - 8 Week Old Foxy Puppies - Learning Growing and Going Home
This time represents a period of continued growth, social development and interest in the people, activities, and smells that abound.
From 5-8 weeks your puppy begins the most critical social development period of his life – he learns social interaction with his littermates, learns how to play and learns bite inhibition. Momma Foxy will be weaning the pups (as we gradually introduce solid food), and will start "puppy school" by teaching them basic manners, including accepting her as the leader of their pack. Your pups will be starting to go out on the town visiting the residents at our local nursing home, 4-H classes, the vet, the lake, the park, etc.
During this time we will be noticing the individual differences between the pups which helps us match them up to the right families. We have had the absolute pleasure of spending time with them playing, training and temperament testing. What a great bunch of pups ie. fun, focused, and loving.

4 Week Old Foxy Puppies - Social Development
So much excitement as the pups learn, grow and are busy exploring their world!
From 3-4 weeks your puppy begins the most critical social development period of his life – he learns social interaction with his littermates, learns how to play and learns bite inhibition. He’ll also learn discipline. Momma Foxy will begin weaning the pups (as we gradually introduce solid food), and will start teaching them basic manners, including accepting her as the leader of their pack. This is the time when we start to see the individual personalities begin to come out. While it is still to early to "match" pups with new families yet we are beginning to get a picture of who each pup is going to be during the next couple of weeks.

Sorry for not getting pictures up but I had completely filled up my computers memory (500GB) and needed to clear off some family movies to make more room before I could import anything new.

Will post more pictures here and on Facebook soon...
In the mean time pups are all growing and doing great! Eyes are open, ears are opening U.N., pups are walking about in the whelping box (when not being held by the kids and I), eating and sleeping. Momma had her stitches out this past Monday and is really enjoying her time at the park and creek watching the ducks with great interest but she is always eager to get back to her apartment to nurse the pups. |
Foxy's pups near transitional or "toddler" stage (2 - 3 weeks) when they become more alert and learn to crawl, stand, and ultimately walk.

Pizza Party with Foxy on way to Circus - Day 6
Pups have all doubled their birth weight.
During your pups first week his developmental stages are much like any newborn ie. eat, sleep, and defecate. But as we approach week 2 things begin to get more interesting. During the coming weeks your puppies eyes and ears will open and he’ll slowly start to respond to light and movement and sounds around him. He’ll become a little more mobile during this period, trying to get his feet underneath him and crawling around in the whelping box. Considered the Transitional or "toddler" stage from 2 - 3 weeks of development as the puppy becomes more alert and learns to crawl, stand, and ultimately walk.

Celebrating Easter / Puppies Birth
(Chocolate with Bavarian Cream Filling)

Saturday about 2 hours postpartum.
Pups are all nursing well, gaining weight, and thriving.
We had been following Foxy's pregnancy very closely, in fact sleeping on lawn furniture nearby, during the last week of her pregnancy. When she did not go into labor as expected on Sunday, April 17th we took her to the vet and since she looked to be doing well we continued to wait for her pups. On Saturday the decision was made to not wait any longer since Foxy was looking tired and less energetic so we went in for a c-sec. After a ruff start 4 boys and 2 girls were born Saturday morning. By Sunday morning Foxy had taken over all of her maternal duties and is continuing to heal quickly. Her pups are all nursing well, gaining weight, and thriving.

Not much longer now till Foxy's Premium Fox Red Pups will arrive!
Mamma Foxy went shopping this past week to pick up a few needed items for her babies.

Foxy was very picky about picking out only the BEST toys, treats, and dog food.

Of course "some" sampling was required before making her final selections.

After shopping, Foxy enjoyed a walk at the creek.

Always with her nose to the ground (Foxy did point & flush a bird in the tall grass) ready for whatever comes up!

Foxy has started nesting!
Just a few short weeks left before puppies are on the ground; Foxy has started nesting. To help pass the time she has been attending dog classes and enjoying her time with the other participants both 2 and 4 legged.

Foxy's is an easy going dog content to hang out with us at the park or relaxing in her favorite chair.
But, all bets are off when she sees a duck or squirrel.

Introducing Innishfree's Foxy Lady Di
PROVEN HUNTER!

Intense Natural Pointer - Hunting Queen

4-H Agility Course
Introducing Foxy Lady Di to the Girls of Innishfree. Foxy is one of the last pups out of the famous Helm's Point Doctor, PT and Kelly's Libby. We are excited to have the opportunity to bring her back to South Dakota. She is a very special girl who like all of our dogs gets spoiled as much as is good for them. Due to problems we have had with pack structure effecting breeding, along with some problem neighbors (which is why our house is up for sale), Foxy is not kept at our home but has her own apartment in town that we visit several times daily.
Foxy is a very strong hunter with a good noise for birds, a natural point, eager retriever and very smart! Extensive hunting experience with well over 500 birds (pheasant, quail, chucker's, etc.) shot over her. She is a splendid example of a Pointing Lab with endless drive and enthusiasm and a very pretty dark fox red color. All this along with that wonderful labrador sweet natured temperament.

- Foxy at 6 Weeks -
Foxy is an awesome looking girl that we have just added to our breeding program. She was one of our Libby x Doc pups born in 2006. She is the pup (side view) snuggling up to the other (front view) pup shown below. She is staying at a place we are renting for her in town. I have been enjoying getting to know her again and working with her.

Doesn't get much better then this!

We are excitedly looking forward to this awesome Foxy litter!
